Samia Suluhu Hassan sworn in as new President of United Republic of Tanzania

Following the unexpected death of Dr. John Pombe Magufuli (17.03.2021), Samia Suluhu Hassan has been sworn in as the first female President of the United Republic of Tanzania and assumed office on 19 March 2021.

Statement by the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO):

“It is with deepest sorrow and heavy heart that we inform you of the untimely death of Our beloved President and the Head of the State, Dr John Magufuli who died on 17 March 2021 in Dar es Salaam.

In a televised national address on Wednesday night, the Vice President H.E Samia Suluhu Hassan announced the President’s demise, saying that the death robbed us the brave leader. We stand with the Nation at this difficult moment.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and more so the entire Tanzanian community and TATO Members, during this difficult time. We pray that his soul rest in eternal peace.”
