The world cultural heritage Stone Town is part of the capital of the semi-autonomous Zanzibar archipelago. It is the cultural heart of Unguja Island and the old quarter of Zanzibar City on the western shore. The hot springs are situated in an oasis near the village Chemka, fed by an underground river from the Kilimanjaro National Park ca. 60 km to the north. On a clear day you will have exceptional views of Mount Kilimanjaro and its peaks.

The protected forest area is the only primeval forest area left on Zanzibar; a few hundred years ago, apparently almost all of Zanzibar was covered by a huge groundwater forest. Although Jozani forest today only covers 10 square kilometres, it consists of many different habitats and is therefore home to many different species of animals and plants.
This excursion is best suited for friends of hiking. The waterfalls are located just below the border of Arusha National Park, on the slopes of the extinct volcano Mount Meru. The river has carved itself a deep and narrow valley, on whose steep slopes the original rainforest with monkeys and birds has remained almost untouched by human hands.
