Bougainvillea Safari Lodge

The Bougainvillea Lodge is located on the edge of Karatu, about 10 km from the main gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The lodge was founded by a local cook and supports social projects in the neighbouring small town of Karatu.

The lodge consists of 32 large, detached cottages with comfortable double beds or two single beds. Family rooms with connecting doors are available. Each room is equipped with mosquito nets, hair dryer, hot and cold water, a veranda and a fireplace. The lodge also has a bar with a selection of soft drinks, South African wines, local and international beers and spirits. The restaurant offers à la carte lunches and a buffet for dinner, which is also suitable for vegetarians. In the middle of the large garden there is a swimming pool surrounded by manicured short lawns and many flowers. A cozy accommodation with a relaxed atmosphere, but the layout reminds one a bit of Retirement Homes in Florida.
