Rhino Lodge

The rustic Rhino Lodge is located not far from the Ngorongro Crater in the middle of a forest area. It is the cheapest of all lodges in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and is suitable as a camping alternative, as the crater rim is at over 2000 meters and it can therefore get quite cold.

The lodge has 24 bedrooms and offers double and single beds and an optional third bed. The rooms are simply furnished in Maasai style and have a private bathroom with hot and cold water. Each room also has its own veranda overlooking the lush green surroundings where antelope and buffalo are often seen. Almost all of the staff are Maasai and come from the immediate vicinity, with part of the lodge’s income going directly to the local village communities. The lodge offers a Tanzanian-influenced cuisine, with a lot of down-to-earth and tasty food.
